SouthEast PortlandTool Library
Like the public library... but for tools

Borrow tools for free. Really.

The SE Portland Tool Library is an all-volunteer library of home and garden tools which may be borrowed for free by SE Portland residents.

We are just like a library that lends books, we just happen to deal in saws, hammers, rakes, ladders, and  seeds!

When you join, we will ask you for a one-time optional Enrollment Donation of $10-$40 to help us buy and maintain tools for you.

SEPTL is a community resource that provides home owners and tenants with the tools they need to perform simple home maintenance, tend their yards and gardens, build furniture and projects – while along the way meeting and sharing with neighbors in this community sustainability project.

We are 4000 members, 1200 tools… and we make about 8,000 loans each year.  Really!

Our History

Steve Couche recounts the tale….

Help out!

The Library is a community-based resource run by your neighbors – and we’d love to have your help!  And of course we always need tool donations.  If you’d like to help out, or if you have tools you’d be interested in donating (read about donations), please contact us!
